Why choose Dapper Dogs?
At Dapper Dogs you can be sure that your dog will be groomed to the highest standard and be treated with respect and kindness. Your dog is important and will be treated as such.
What does a full groom include?
Full grooms include a bath with specialist shampoo and conditioner if needed, groom out, nail clip,anal gland emptied (if necessary) ear check and pluck (if required) plus clip, hand strip or scissor as per the clients request. Tooth scaling is also done but only if the dog is content to have this done. we will not scale teeth that show signs of decay this is a job for your vet as they may need extracting.
What if my dog just needs a bath?
That's absolutely fine we are happy to just bath your dog in between full grooms.
Can I specify the way I want my dog groomed?
As long as your dogs coat is mat free and of a suitable type for the style you request, we are happy to create any style/length to suit you. This may be to the Breed standard, short & practical or something completely different. We are more than happy to discuss your requirements and find a style to suit your dog and lifestyle.
My dog is matted can you help me?
Yes we can certainly help you and your dog, but your choice of style will be limited depending on how matted the dog is and where the mats are. Please click here to be directed to our matted dogs page.
Do I need an apppointment?
Yes at Dapper Dogs grooms are strictly by appointment only, your dog deserves to have the correct amount of time and attention allocated to him/her.
What if I need to cancel an appointment?
We require a minimum 24 hours (not including weekends) for cancellations. If we do not get the required cancellation notice we do charge 50% of the full appointment charge. We lose money when scheduled appointments do not arrive and we cannot fill appointments without notice.
Do you sedate the dogs?
Absolutely not.
Can I bring my dog just for a nail clip?
Yes but you must ring for an appointment first.
How long will you keep my dog?
This depends on the breed of dog and the groom you are having done but we can tell you at the time of booking.
My dog is a puppy when should I bring him for his first clip?
As soon as possible, the younger the dog is the better he/she accepts new experiences.
Can I bring treats to leave for my dog?
Of course you can but we do have a supply of treats on hand.
What shampoo do you use?
We use a range of top quality shampoos so when bathing your dog we will use a shampoo most suited to his/her coat and skin.
My dog has a special shampoo from the vet, can I bring it with me for you to use on him/her?
Yes that's not a problem.
What if my dog has fleas?
If you know your dog has fleas please take him to the vets for an appropriate treatment before you bring him/her for his grooming appointment. If we discover your dog has fleas we will charge extra to cover our costs for treating the salon.
What Breeds do you groom?
All breeds of dog are welcomed at Dapper Dogs.
Will my dog be put in a cage?
Yes for safety reasons we cannot let the dogs run loose but we like the dogs to enjoy their grooming session and the relaxed atmosphere. With this in mind the cages are in the grooming room and all of the dogs are able to see and hear what is going on. Dogs are only in the cages for a few minutes prior to grooming and then when they have been groomed and waiting to be collected by their owner.Whilst waiting most dogs happily run to “their” crate and often fall asleep while waiting to be picked up.
Do you accept credt/card payments?
Yes we are happy to take payment via most major debit/credit cards
